Man arrested for stealing gas cans from housekeeper job at home

A man was arrested Tuesday in South Carolina after police said he was stealing gas canisters from his own home.

The arrest was made at a home in the 200 block of South Street in the Greenville-area city, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jeff Moore said the suspect, who has not been identified, was arrested on suspicion of stealing a gas canister from his residence, which was reported stolen around 5:45 a.m.

Tuesday.

The suspect is believed to be a former employee at the home, Moore said.

He was charged with one count of criminal possession of a stolen property, a third count of possession of stolen property and one count each of burglary, theft and tampering with evidence, Moore wrote in a news release.

He is being held in the Charleston Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
